What should I do if I have a technical problem with My Fundraising?
If you have a technical problem with the My Fundraising website and you cannot find the answer within our below FAQs, please go to the Contact Us page and submit your query using the online form.
Creating Your Page
To get started, go to the homepage fundraise.unicef.org.uk and click on create an account at the top right hand corner. Remember if you are holding a fundraising event and haven't already been in touch with us, then please complete and return an event form so that we can support your fundraising in the best way possible.
I am under 18 – can I still set up a fundraising page?
Yes, you can. Please tick the box stating you are under 18 years old when you set up your account.
How long does it take to set up a fundraising page?
The amount of detail you want on your page will determine how long it will take to set up. A standard looking page will take just a few minutes to create, but adding photos and other text will take a bit longer.
What name should I use for my fundraising page?
You can use whatever name you choose, so long as it is not offensive in any way. It's good to make it personal or relate it to your event. Please note that you cannot use any of the following characters in your page title: (&,.=\"/'?)
Can I choose the period that I want my fundraising page to be live for?
Yes you can. Indicate your chosen dates in the date fields below the label 'Date my page should stay open until' in Step 2 of the fundraising page creation process. You can also edit this at any time by logging into your account and selecting 'Edit your event details'. Please make sure not to set your closing date too far into the future as when your page expires we send you a thank you letter which includes the total amount that you have raised.
How will I know that UNICEF has all the money from my page?
The money that people donate onto your page comes straight to UNICEF UK so it can be used where it is needed most as soon as possible. When your page closes (on the date which you select when creating your page) we will send you a thank you letter confirming the total amount you have raised. As the My Fundraising site is UNICEF's own, it means there is no commission on donations so 100% of donations come straight to us.
Editing your page
You can edit most aspects of your page once it is set up. To do this you log into your account and depending on what you want to edit – click on the edit tabs next to that. If you are having any problems editing your page, just
Contact Us and we can help you.
Can I add the amount I raise offline to the online total?
Yes it is possible to do this. When you initially set your page up, you can put the total of any offline funds raised already (through cash or cheques) in the appropriate box in Step 4 of the fundraising page creation process. Once logged on and viewing your page you can click on the 'offline' button (above your donations total) and fill in the amount that you have raised offline. You will then need to send this money in with a Sending in My Money Form – remembering to put your page name on the form.
How do I send in offline donations?
Please complete this Sending in My Money Form, ensuring that you put your My Fundraising page name on the form. When sending in your offline donations, please send these in with your completed sponsorship forms so that we can claim Gift Aid on the donations. Note: if you have money that you have raised with a sponsor form then please don't pay these donations onto your page as we won't be able to claim the Gift Aid. Please pay this type of money in using a sending in my money form. You can count your offline donations into your online total and display these on your page in the way explained above.
Can I link the UNICEF website to mine to help with my fundraising?
If you haven't already been in contact with a member of the Fundraising Initiatives Team, we will need you to complete an event form [link] for a website link request. Please indicate your reasons for linking, the purpose of your website and its URL in your event form before adding a link from your site.
UNICEF has very strict guidelines about how our logo can be used. If you are organising or taking part in a fundraising event you will be entitled to use our 'in aid of UNICEF' logo to help with your event. To request this logo please fill out an event form with the details of your fundraising. If you have any questions regarding this please contact our help desk on 0844 801 2414.
How do I set up a Tribute Page in memory of someone important to me?
You can set up a page in someone's memory by setting up a page and selecting 'My Own Event' and following the step by step process.
Can I suggest my own £ target amount to raise?
Yes, the £ target is completely up to you. We do not have a suggested amount you should raise for your Tribute Page.
Can I choose the period that I want my fundraising page to be live for?
Yes, when you set up your page you can set an expiry date for the page to close. We will contact you prior to your page expiring to see if you would like to extend the expiry date of your page.
When your page expires we will send you a thank you letter which includes the total amount that you have raised.
Donating
To donate to someone's My Fundraising page please find their page – either by typing their name/event into the search bar or from a link they have given you. Then click on the 'donate' symbol and fill in your details. The site will then ask you whether you want to write a short message to sit alongside your donation and take you through some gift aid questions to see whether we are able to claim gift aid on your donation (at no extra cost to you!). Once you have filled in all the relevant details you will receive a confirmation email and your donation will appear on the page!
Is the online payment secure?
Yes, World Pay is a secure partner. This is indicated by a padlock symbol in the bottom right of your browser window whilst on payment pages.
What percentage of my donation goes to UNICEF?
All of it! Because UNICEF owns the My Fundraising site it means there is no commission on your donations (like other online giving sites) which means 100% of your donation comes straight to us. Help us spread the word about this and our My Fundraising site by sharing your page on Facebook and Twitter.
Can a sponsor donate using their CAF card?
Yes you can donate with a CAF card.
I am under 18 – can I donate to a fundraising event?
Yes you can, but if you do not have a debit or credit card you will need to ask permission to use a parent's or guardian's card or for them to write a cheque on your behalf.
What methods of payment can I use?
The My Fundraising site can accept most cards including: Solo, Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, American Express, Delta and Maestro.
Can I donate from abroad?
Yes. The site can process transactions through World Pay from all over the world. The My Fundraising site will not charge you for donations from abroad but please do check with your bank as they may charge.
Can I donate through my paypal account?
Yes. Click on the donate button on someone's page and then select the 'paypal' option at the bottom of the first page.
Can I remain anonymous when making a donation?
Yes. You can remain anonymous by leaving blank the field on the first page of the donation process called 'name to display alongside donation'.
Can I add a personal message with my donation?
Yes. When donating onto someone's page there is an option to write a small message which will appear alongside your donation on the page.
Can I edit the personal message once submitted?
No. This part of the page is within the donation section and is therefore protected so the message cannot be edited after it is submitted.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple scheme that allows charities to recover the tax already paid on donations made in the last four years at no extra cost to you. By reclaiming tax from Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC), Gift Aid is a great way for you to help UNICEF UK maximise the value of its donations. This means that every £1 you donate could be worth an extra 25 pence to us.
If you need more information please telephone our Donations Team on 0844 801 2410.
What is 'connected persons' and how does this affect my gift aid?
Sponsorship money received from people connected to the participant is likely to exceed the “benefit rules” of the Gift Aid scheme, as defined by HM Revenue and Customs. We therefore may be unable to reclaim tax on sponsorship received from the following: a wife or husband, a relative (sibling, ancestor [e.g. mother], or lineal descendent [e.g. grandson]), the spouse of a relative, or a company under the control of the runner or connected person.
What happens with Gift Aid on the donations to my fundraising page?
UNICEF will claim Gift Aid once each individual's details are verified. For this reason, this amount does not show on your page and cannot count towards a minimum sponsorship target.
Can I claim Gift Aid on ticket sales for events using My Fundraising?
Unfortunately not. Gift Aid can't be claimed when the donor is getting a benefit from the donation. In this case, the benefit would be attending the event.
Can I claim Gift Aid if I am donating from a corporate organisation?
No, Gift Aid can only be claimed by individuals, not companies.
Can Gift Aid be claimed on offline donations?
Gift Aid can be claimed if you are using a sponsorship form and your sponsors tick the Gift Aid box and provide their full name and address. The sponsorship form needs to be sent with the a sending in my money form. Gift Aid can only be claimed if the donor grants permission personally. For this reason, a page holder should not pay offline donations in through the My Fundraising system, otherwise we will be unable to claim Gift Aid on those donations. It is therefore best to send in any money raised offline separately, using the sending in my money form.

Of course! You can order a fundraising pack by calling our helpdesk on 0844 801 2414 or emailing fundraisinghelp@unicef.org.uk.
When I make a donation using PayPal to a fundraisers target how do you calculate the rate of exchange?

Can I do a collection for UNICEF UK?

If I have an account with My Fundraising which I set up on the old site, will I have to set up a new one?
No. Your account details will automatically move across to the new site.
If I have a live fundraising page on the old site will it close?
No. Your page will remain open on our old site until it expires. You can log in via the new site and from your account there will be a link to your page.
Will the URL for my page stay the same?
Yes. The URL will stay the same, so your sponsors will still be able to find your page and donate. However, when on the new site pages created on the new site will not come up on the new site search. You will have to follow a link back to the old site and search from there.
Will I be able to access my fundraising page once it has closed?
Yes, you will be able to view an old page through a link in your account settings once logged on. Unfortunately, your settings won't display the total amount raised if you've had more than one page in the past. However, you will be able to see the total donations you have given in the past.
